I'm looking into some retro games at the moment, particularly on the megadrive/genesis and C64. Below is a list of titles I'm currently looking at.
I'm quite interested into the background of the games, so if anyone has any information or knows of any websites that would help with development history and the people involved, please get in touch with me. I'd appreciate it.
Anyway, said titles are:
Another World (Out of this World), Delphine Software, 1992
Flashback, Delphine Software, 1993
Fade to Black, Delphine Sofware, 1995
Desert Strike (and series), EA, 1992
Streets of Rage 2 (And series), Sega, 1992
Road Rash 2 (And series), EA, 1992
Creatures (and series), Apex Computer Productions (And anything by them - where are they now?), 1991
Mayhem in Monsterland, Apex Computer Productions, 1993
More will follow. |

Fair few games there.
All I can suggest is to search ign.com for the obscure developers/publishers to dig up some official links.
As for those early EA games - I remember that the kickass music for those were composed by the same guy. Still love the 'choons' today. |

My top tip is to find out the names of the people involved rather than the companies. Studios and publishers come and go but people tend to hand around if only because they have three kids and a mortgage!
The best way to find out the developer's names is to search sites like allgame.com, spong.com or good ol' google. That should help you find out what other titles they were involved in, what happened to the studios, etc (actually, most of these sites have little summaries of company histories as well).
Good luck!

For Delphine Software, this page has some info: http://ramal.free.fr/dsi_uk.htm
For info on developers and publishers Moby Games is a good source: www.mobygames.com
Apex Computer Productions are creating games again, this time as: http://www.infinitelives.tv/

Once you own those carts, Chris, you can get an emulator and ROMs via a file-sharing program for free. Practically any game you can think of on the SNES and Megadrive.
Another World and Fade to Black are the best out of that lot though...FtoB is a solid game if I remember rightly. |
